THE IRISH THEATRE INSTITUTE
Irish Theatre Institute is a knowledge resource organisation for the professional
Irish theatre sector, promoting Irish theatre and dance companies,
theatre artists and the Irish repertoire in an international
and all-island context.

Irish Theatre Online
Irish Theatre Online is a guide to contemporary drama, dance
and opera in Ireland, North and South. The website has been
designed to give users, be they directors, producers, writers,
actors or audience, immediate access to the current professional
Irish theatre scene.
The main Search page leads into the listing sections
where you will find detailed information on:
Irish Funding Bodies; Arts Officers; Support Organisations;
Youth Drama & Dance Groups; Drama & Dance Training
Courses; Scholarships & Bursaries; Awards & Competitions.
And you can link directly to the 100s of email and web addresses
therein.
But the stars of irishtheatreonline.com are, of course, the
Irish Theatre Companies, Venues and Festivals. These pages
include contact info, artistic/ programming policies, up to
5 recent productions and up to 5 images of the work.
Companies, Venues, Festivals and their Personnel are listed
and searchable, though not freelance individuals, who are
outside the scope of this website. All information and images
have been supplied by the organisations themselves.
The Quick Search allows you to directly enter the name
or part of a name of a Company, Venue or Festival
to call up its information. So even if you know half the name
of a theatre organisation, you should be able to trace them!
If you type in the word box, for example, the
results page gives you 3 choices:
the Black Box Theatre Company in Wicklow, the Black Box Venue
in Galway, and the Tinderbox Theatre Company in Belfast.
The Advanced Search options offer a greater range of
searches on Companies, Venues, Festivals and their Personnel.
You can search for all these organisations by town, county
or region, say, festivals in Galway, companies in Cork, or
venues in Northern Ireland.
In addition, Companies can also be searched by art
form in other words, drama, dance, opera, puppet, circus
and street theatre and Theatre/Arts Festivals
by the month in which they take place.
For Venues, there are multiple search options. As before,
you can search by location, but you can also search by: no.
of seats, venue terms, stage type and stage dimensions. If
the venue has its own resident company, you can also access
it directly from its page.
The final Advanced search relates to the Personnel
specified by the Companies, Venues and Festivals.
